About Us

Our funeral home is a family-owned and operated business. While we have the resources to provide the same level of service as larger funeral homes, we remain small enough to ensure every family receives the personal attention and care they truly deserve.

On November 7, 1962, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, former First Lady and renowned human rights advocate, passed away at her home in Manhattan. Having lived in Hyde Park for many years, she was brought back to Dutchess County to be laid to rest beside her husband, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in the Rose Garden of his Springwood estate. Our founder, George W. Sweet, was deeply honored to be chosen as the funeral director to oversee the arrangements for Mrs. Roosevelt’s service. Notable attendees included President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, Vice President Lyndon Johnson, as well as former Presidents Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. George W. Sweet took great pride in being part of this significant occasion, and our funeral home continues to uphold this legacy by serving the families of Hyde Park and its neighboring communities.
