William R. Youmans, 72, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck.

Born July 13, 1950, in Binghamton, he was the son of Raymond C. Youmans Jr. and Janet M. Lewis Youmans. He attended the University of Connecticut on a soccer scholarship.

Mr. Youmans held many jobs over the years, including some time with the US Postal Service and Dorsey Gage in Poughkeepsie, where he made many friends.

He loved to travel, especially with his longtime companion, Kathleen Wheeler. Bill was heart-broken when she unexpectedly predeceased him earlier this year.

Bill enjoyed gambling, playing golf, and he once bowled in several local leagues. An avid New York Yankee fan, he enjoyed all sports.

Survivors include his sister, Barbara M. Youmans, of Hyde Park; brother, Raymond C. Youmans III, of Durham, NY; and nieces, Kelly M. and Kristen L. Youmans, both of Hyde Park.

He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Christine Youmans, also of Hyde Park.

In addition to his parents and companion, he was predeceased by his daughter, Stacy Youmans in June 2007.

Calling hours will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon, Thursday, September 29th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park.

A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be alongside his daughter in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
