Obituary

Virginia Anne (Ritch) Woods, known as "Ginny", 71, of Hyde Park, New York, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Born on March 11, 1955, in Greenwich, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ritch and Virginia Armstrong Ritch.

She married Robert E. Woods on July 15, 2001, at Pirate canoe club. Robert passed away on November 9, 2022.

Virginia dedicated her career to the United States Postal Service in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she served as a letter carrier for more than 25 years. After retirement she drove school buses for over 10 years.

She is survived by her sons Matthew M. Dabros and Brian R. Dabros, his fiancée, Francesca Mucci Dabros; and all of her grandchildren, Hayden Dabros, Kali Dabros, Andrew Dabros, Vienna Dabros, and Jaxon Dabros; her brothers, Arlen Ritch, Walter Ritch, and Charles Ritch. She is also survived by her nephews Corey Ritch, Derek Ritch, Destry Ritch and niece Lindsay (Ritch) Green.

Nothing Made Ginny happier than being at the ocean. Anywhere she went she would always find a beach. She was a kind spirit and had a gentle soul. She loved being "Gramma". Her grandchildren brought her so much joy and happiness. She also lived in Caroga Lake, NY for many years where she made so many amazing friends. Being on a pontoon boat, kayaking, or anything outdoors was the perfect day in her eyes. Her day never really started until she had her cup of tea. Ginny looked forward to her yearly camping trips to Rhode Island, where she brought her children and later her grandchildren. Writing poems was a passion of hers. She was an adventurer and loved taking trips in her camper. One of her favorite quotes was, "Not all who wander are lost."

We will be having a celebration of life for Ginny at Coppolas, 4167 Albany Post Rd, Hyde park NY,12538, on Saturday October 3rd at 3pm.
