Thomas Louis Morgan, 83, a Staatsburg resident for almost 60 years, died on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.

Born September 17, 1939, in Alliance, Ohio, he was the son of Edward V. and Ruth Derry Morgan.

Tom proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965.

Mr. Morgan worked for IBM for twenty-six years before retiring. In his retirement, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring for good in 2009.

Tom enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, going to the casino, coin collecting and a good western omelet. An avid bowler, he bowled in several local leagues over the years at the former Mardi-Bob Lanes in Poughkeepsie.

On April 3, 1965, in Alliance, Ohio, he married the former Nancy A. Snider. Mrs. Morgan survives at home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Thomas J. Morgan, of Hyde Park; two daughters, Jill Morgan of Poughkeepsie and Janna Buzga and her husband, Robert, of New Jersey; two granddaughters, Morgan and Brooke Buzga; brother, Edward Morgan of Columbus, OH; and several nieces and cousins.

He also leaves behind his beloved cat, "Dini" (short for Houdini).

He was predeceased by his parents; an aunt, Jane Ray; niece, Linda Hall; and sister-in-law, Valerie Morgan.

Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 AM, Thursday, March 30th, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

Funeral services will take place at 11 AM with Rev. Arlene Dawber officiating.

Services will then continue with military honors at the Community Mausoleum Chapel of Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Cremation will follow and his ashes will be inurned at the convenience of the family.
