Obituary

Hyde Park, NY

Theresa M. Nace, affectionately known as Shy by her closest friends and lovingly called Nanny by her cherished grandchildren, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024.

Born on August 3, 1956, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Theresa lived a full and vibrant life in the city that was both her cradle and her final resting place. She dedicated many years to caring for others as a Nurse's Aide, a role that allowed her to touch the lives of many with her innate compassion and kindness. Theresa's life was one of devotion and love, most evident in her role as a partner, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her long-time partner, Richard Adolphsen, and her sons, Allen Nace Jr. alongside his wife Sarah, and Mark Nace, with his wife Nicole. She was the proud grandmother to Allison Turner, partnered with Nate Rider, Alyssa Murtagh, Ryan Nace, and John Klippel Jr. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Tina Turner and granddaughter Alyssa Turner. The bond she shared with her family was unbreakable, and the memories they created would forever be a source of comfort and joy. Her brother Patrick Wood and sister Janet Taylor, along with many nieces and nephews, will remember Theresa's generous spirit and her readiness to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. She is also survived by her former husband Allen Nace Sr. (Kristen Bird). She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert and Thomas Wood and her mother, Mary Wood. Theresa's legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Logan Rider, Ethan Turner, Joseph Turner, and Cayden Rider, who will grow up hearing tales of their great-grandmother's love and kindness.

While Theresa was known for her human connections, her bond with her beloved dog, Heineken, was unparalleled. Heineken was her faithful companion, confidant and source of endless joy. Their relationship exemplified Theresa's loving nature and her ability to nurture those in her care.

Theresa's interests and hobbies brought great joy to her life. She found pleasure in the simple things, like playing scratch-off tickets, playing poker, going to the casino, and spending quality time with family and friends. Yet, it was her open heart, not her poker face, that left the most indelible mark on those she met. These moments, though seemingly small, were the ones she treasured most, for they were spent surrounded by the people she loved. She has been described by those who knew her best as generous, loving, and kind, Theresa's impact on her community was profound. Her warm presence and selfless nature made her a beloved figure in the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Theresa's ability to make everyone feel like part of her extended family was one of her most remarkable traits. As we say goodbye to Theresa M. Nace, we celebrate a life lived with immense love and generosity. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt her kindness, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Theresa's departure leaves behind a legacy of warmth, caring, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones—a legacy that will not be forgotten.
