Theodore T.
Lutz Sr.
Dec 26, 1951 — Jul 20, 2024
STAATSBURG - Theodore T. Lutz, Sr., 72, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
He was born on December 26, 1951, to the late Theodore and Irene (Quinn) Lutz, Sr. Ted, as he was known, grew up in Clinton Corners and continued on to raise a family in Hyde Park.
Ted owned and operated Done-Rite Professional Chimney Technicians. He was a talented and meticulous mason.
Ted enjoyed working on and always appreciated a nice car, old or new ("Open all four barrels!"). He enjoyed fishing, loved good music (and to dance!), being outside on a beautiful day and shopping for a "good deal"! He loved a good joke and had a great sense of humor. He was a humble, understanding, and forever forgiving man and never stopped "looking on the bright side of life". He loved sharing fond memories and stories about his childhood and family (7 Little Peppers). He cherished the friendships he had, most of which were lifelong.
The person who taught me how to be a "Lady" was a man, my Dad. Thank you Pop. If only we could hear you play "The Can-Can" on the accordion one more time!
Ted is survived by his two sons, Shane Lutz (Althea), and Theodore Lutz, Jr. (Julia Wiley); daughter, Christine Lutz (Michael Lang); brothers, Jerry Lutz (Alice), and Robert Lutz (Annie); three sisters, Linda O'Dell, Irene "Sissy" Hoffman, and Julie Boyles (Jim); sister-in-law, Jeanne Lutz; and his grandchildren, Nolan, Nico, Adriana, Owen, Claire, Shawn, Ryan, Genevieve, Aileen, Jolene, and Anthony Jr.
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Thomas A. Lutz, stepson, Bryan Dengler, brother, Kenneth Lutz, and brother-in-law, Jerry O'Dell.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains, NY on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Hyde Park. To leave an online condolence or for directions, please visit Ted's obituary page at www.sweetsfuneralhome.com.
