Obituary

Terry Johnson , 76, left this life on March 21, 2026. Terry was born on November 8, 1949 to her parents the late Hector and Irene Chauvin. She resided in military housing with her parents and her older brother, Thomas Chauvin (Dee) in Hartford, CT until 1958 when the family moved to East Hartford, CT.

Terry grew up in East Hartford and enjoyed many loving friends, especially the Blawie family and Mintel family. As a child, Terry was known to rescue and return home with many a stray cat. Terry welcomed her baby sister, Georgianna, in 1962 who she so lovingly cared for as they grew together. In high school, Terry loved acting and was an avid participant in high school plays. After high school, Terry graduated from Central Connecticut College.

After the sudden passing of her father, Terry moved to NYC in 1978 to begin a new chapter in her life. She struggled, worked hard, and honed her skills at bookkeeping; gaining a reputation that generated her entrepreneurial spirit for business. She enjoyed an abundance of friends, namely Sandy and Kevin Powell. She doted over the local, less-fortunate children in the neighborhood. She loved treating them to local parks, movies, shopping, and to her favorite time of year, Christmas in NYC.

While Terry was working at a local music shop, she met the love of her life, Robert Johnson. They married on September 21,1991 at the Cathedral at Columbia University. While arriving to their wedding, they were interrupted by college students and interviewed for a college paper. In 1992, they moved to Greenwood Lake with their dog Max and rescued their beloved kitty Andy. In 1995, they bought their home in Hyde Park, NY. Terry loved the Hudson Valley and commuted to NYC with her husband daily for 20 years. While at home, they shared it with an abundance of dogs, cats, birds, and fish over the past 30 years.

Terry loved and cherished her families and her pets above all else. She leaves behind her dogs Jade, Charlie, and RayRay. She loved to travel with Bob's family, Carolyn and David, Sr., John, Colin, David, Jr. to Lake George and Alaska and Virginia Beach, were great memories. She lovingly cared for her niece, Maria Drisgula and James Johnson and Rachel Showman held a special place in her heart.

Robert and Georgianna want to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for the amazing care they gave to Terry in her final months.

The family requests anyone to donate to the Hudson Valley Animal Rescue Sanctuary (HVARS) or to Hudson Valley Hospice in Terry's memory.
