Susan
Piccoli
Feb 29, 1948 — Jan 31, 2026
Susan Piccoli, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Schneider of Hyde Park, New York, died on January 31, 2026, in Poughkeepsie. She would have turned 78 years old on February 29, 2026.
Susan graduated high school from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, New York, in 1966. Shortly after that, she started working at the Grand Union Company as a bookkeeper and office manager. After working for the company for over forty years, she received an award of distinction upon her retirement. She was married to her husband, Richard Piccoli, for fifty-five years and had two children: her daughter, Susan, and her son, John. She was pre-deceased by her husband just seven months ago.
Her love for her family was ever present in her beautiful smile, all the delicious meals she made and delectable desserts she baked. She always looked forward to hosting Christmas Eve dinner for her extended family. Susan dedicated her life to her family, taking care of everyone's needs and supporting her children throughout their school years, college degrees, and their graduate programs.
Like her father, who was a competitive diver, she was a skilled swimmer and loved swimming in Lake Taghkanic in the summertime and in the ocean on family vacations to the Jersey Shore, Cape Cod and California. She also loved walking her dogs, taking care of her cats, visiting National Parks, going to gardens like Innisfree and the New York Botanical Gardens, canning vegetables and making jams and jellies out of fruit from her own garden that she tended with her husband and father-in-law, sewing and going on Sunday drives with her husband and children. Sue, as she was known by her friends and family, was kind, caring, nurturing, generous and she made others feel loved and appreciated.
Susan is survived by her daughter, her son, her son-in-law, two brothers, four sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 2:00-3:00pm at Sweet's Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, New York 12538. Flowers are appreciated, as she loved them, but donations to the American Heart Association, an organization she volunteered for, are welcomed.
