Stella S. Green, a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, died on August 6th, 2023, at age 93.

Mrs. Green worked at Dutchess Community College from 1968 to 1993. Stella went back to work part-time at Dutchess Community College after her husband passed away in 2001.

Stella was a member of Resurrection Bible Church and belonged to the CSEA Retirement Association. She enjoyed swimming any place she could; she especially loved the Atlantic City ocean where she grew up, and Caroga Lake in the Adirondacks where she enjoyed using the summer home with her family. Stella loved being with family and being around the water.

Stella was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 7th, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Maxwell Rosenfelt and Anna Kaplan Rosenfelt. In addition to her parents, Stella had two brothers, Meyer and Louis Rosenfelt and one sister, Tessie Calkin, all deceased.

Stella graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1948. She also attended some part- time classes at Dutchess Community Collęge while working there.

Stella met the love of her life, Ronald J. Green, while he was in the Navy, stationed in Atlantic City. They married on August 1st, 1950. He predeceased her in 2001.

Survivors include her sons, Michael J. Green and wife, Francine, of Hyde Park; Thomas Green and wife, Lynnell, of Oregon; Mark Green of Poughkeepsie; and Danny Green and wife, Dawn, of Hyde Park.

Her eldest son, Ronald T. Green, passed on in 2010, and she is survived by his wife, Wanda Green of Poughkeepsie.

Grandchildren include Stephanie Henderson, Heather Green, Ronald Green, Sarah Herzog, Katie Galvano, Kyle Green, Rebecca Green, and Melissa Murray.

Stella had sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 Pm, Tuesday, August 15th, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A service will take place at 6pm during the visitation. Her son, Deacon Michael Green, will officiate.

Graveside services and burial will be at 11am, Wednesday August 16th, at St. Peter's Cemetery, in Poughkeepsie.
