Hyde Park - Sharon Anne Brenner, 76, a lifelong area resident, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at home with her family by her side.
Born July 19, 1945, in Beacon, she was the daughter of George and Anne Barbano Morano. Sharon was a 1963 graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park. Before raising a family, she worked as a secretary for a brief time at the former WJZ Gage in Hyde Park.
On July 23, 1966, in Poughkeepsie, she married John W. 'Jack' Brenner. Jack predeceased her on March 28, 2006.
Sharon enjoyed doing crochet and made many things for family and friends, often without the aid of a pattern!
A bona fide Elvis fanatic, she loved to sing and dance to the golden oldies of the 50's and 60's. She took dancing lessons for many years from Estelle and Alfonso and was so good that they wanted her to become an instructor.
She especially enjoyed cooking and hosting family barbecues and pool parties and taking trips to Lake George and Point Pleasant Beach, NJ with her husband, Jack. In her younger years, she could often be found working in her rock garden enjoying nature. Butterflies were her favorite. Sharon also liked to do jig-saw puzzles, especially if they were of a beautiful picture. She loved the works of American painter Thomas Kinkade.
Survivors include her daughter, Heather Brenner, and her longtime companion, Richard Ireland, of Pine Plains; and she was the best 'Nana' to Demetria Fernando, and her husband, Julian, of La Mesa, CA.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her canine companion, her Morkie, Cody.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 PM, Monday, August 16th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, August 17th at the Funeral Home.
Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon's family respectfully requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 132 W. 32nd Street, New York, NY 10001 (www.cancer.org), or the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538 (
