Robert A. Maddalena, 74, of Poughkeepsie, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the New York State Veterans' Home at Montrose.

Born November 30, 1948, in the Bronx, he was the son of Albert and Mary Maddalena. Robert was a graduate of Beacon High School, Manhattan College (bachelor's degree in business management), and Marist College (accounting degree).

In between Manhattan College and Marist College, Mr. Maddalena proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As the son of a World War II Prisoner of War, supporting veterans was very important to Robert, and he fulfilled this by joining the Semper Fi Parents of the Hudson Valley, a group that supports local veterans.

Mr. Maddalena began his career at IBM, Poughkeepsie, and after 25 years, went out on his own to be a self-employed public accountant.

On May 28, 2006, in the Hyde Park Baptist Church, he married the former Carol Tiso Anderson. Mrs. Maddalena survives at home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Bonaventura, and husband, Jason, of Little Elm, TX; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Brooklyn Bonaventura.

He is also survived by his three stepsons, Francis Anderson, Kyle (Elizabeth) Anderson, and Alexander Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
