Obituary

Robert Lambregtse, 76, of Poughkeepsie, New York, passed away on June 6, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Lawrence. Together they nurtured an ever growing family of children: Danee' Benjamin (Ryan), Rebecca Benjamin, Jessica Benjamin, Fred Champion (Carrie), Thomas Champion (Hillary), and Austin Lawrence, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, including Gianna, Benjamin, Halle, Austin (Celina), Charlie, Emmie, Sophia, Lily, Theadore, Canyon, Harley, and Trevor. Bob is also survived by his siblings Beth Mullarkey (Tom) and Keith Lambregtse (Jerene). Robert was known by most as Bob or papa Bob. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bob, our trusty meteorologist, made sure to know the weather for his loved ones, wherever they were, and knew they had a storm coming well before they did. His local teams (Yankees, Giants) or the latest PGA tour were the background soundtrack to Bob's daily life. If he wasn't rooting for the home team, it was for the underdog. Bob was a grill master, a cigar aficionado, and fan of long drives to nowhere with the top down and Jimmy Buffet on the radio. He would never turn down a good hot dog from a stand on the side of the road and made friends with nearly every neighbor around the block or across the bar. Bob wasn't much of a talker, but he was the first person you called with good news or bad. Instead, he spoke through acts of service, whether helping with a move halfway across the country, making homemade stew on a cold winter day, or explaining, for the 100th time, what a bogey is. Bob, the patriarch of a mixed (and sometimes messy) family, brought everyone together with grace and kindness, showing us all how to choose love every day. Bob served as a sergeant in the Air Force in Germany from 1966-1970 and then worked for over 25 years as a senior sales executive at Nortel and various startups. He actively supported Wounded Warriors, March of Dimes, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Calling hours will be from 4 - 7pm on Thursday, June 9th at Sweets Funeral Home: 4365 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park, NY 12538. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, June 10th at St. James' Episcopal Church: 4526 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
