Robert D. Fiorentino, Sr. of Highland passed away on September 2, 2023, at age 84, surrounded by family and friends.

Bob was born in New York City on November 19, 1938 and moved from the Bronx to Poughkeepsie in 1964, eventually building his own home in Highland in 1970. In 1998, Bob retired from a 34-year career as an engineer at IBM. He subsequently worked at Dutchess County BOCES while pursuing his many hobbies and passions.

Bob's creativity knew no bounds and evolved throughout his life. Earlier years were spent honing his expertise on the guitar and creating beautiful stained glass art. His art interests grew into a particular love for crafting Halloween-themed pieces to share with loved ones in celebration of his favorite holiday. His entire life, Bob was an avid carpenter, woodworker and—ever the engineer—all-around inventor. Bob discovered two of his great loves later in life: dancing and his dancing partner Ellie. In addition to sharing their love of dance, Bob and Ellie shared many wonderful times exploring new places around the Hudson Valley, attending cultural events, and eating out at their favorite restaurants. Bob cherished the time he spent with his family—especially outings that included his grandson Gianni—and the regular phone conversations he had with his longtime friends, his brother and sister, and his beloved cousin Artie. He enjoyed and was grateful for his close relationship with his neighbors Sarah and Bill, who were also so kind to him during his health struggles.

Bob is survived by his daughter Serena Sassone and her husband Joseph; daughter Dawn Fiorentino Izzi and her husband Grant; daughter Deanna Fiorentino and her husband Kevin; son Robert Fiorentino and his wife Utako; granddaughter Natasha Ludwig and her husband Cameron; grandson Gianni Sassone; brother William Fiorentino and late sister-in-law Judith Fiorentino, sister Laurette Dolan and brother-in-law Bill Dolan; his nieces and nephews; and longtime companion Eleanor Bartush. Bob was predeceased by his parents, William and Millie Fiorentino.
