Robert Frederick Dahl, 79, a lifelong resident of Rhinebeck, NY died on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born November 24, 1944 in Rhinebeck, he was the son of the late Fred J. Dahl and Anita Unson Dahl.

After graduating from Rhinebeck High School in 1962, he went on to Dutchess Community College. It was there that he met the love of his life Rita Kirschner. On September 7, 1968, Robert and Rita were married at St. Joseph's Church in Millbrook, NY. They were married 52 wonderful years. Rita predeceased him on January 7, 2021.

Robert worked for IBM as a Computer Designer and engineer for many years before retiring in 1992.

Robert enjoyed working on and restoring antique cars, tractors and anything that had an engine. He was a member of the Red Hook Antique Car Club and looked forward to the Rhinebeck car show each year in May. He loved the outdoors and spent many years camping with Rita on the banks of the Esopus Creek.

He is survived by his son Robert F. Dahl, Jr of Rhinebeck and beloved granddaughter Sierra Ashley Dahl of Manchester, NH.

A memorial service and private burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bangall at a later date.
