Richard William Placke, 75, of Phoenicia, died on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Kingston Hospital, in Kingston.

Born, April 24, 1949, in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Harold Placke and Florence Donohue Placke.

Growing up in Peekskill, Richard eventually moved north and began working for Abilities First in Poughkeepsie.

Dick loved his job and took great pride in where he worked and what he did.

An avid talker and social butterfly, he was known to pick up a conversation with anyone and everyone that would listen.

Dick was a book of knowledge and often knew information about just anything, he was also very involved in the Titanic Society and loved the history and story of the Titanic.

On October 27th, 2007, Richard married the former Bobbi Chapman, Mrs. Placke survives at home.

Along with his wife he is survived by his two bonus children Joshua Oviatt and wife Denease and Laurie Ciferri. two grandchildren; Christopher and Jenna. And his beloved Dog Boo Boo Ann.

He is also survived by his brother Harry Placke and wife Gerti, sister in laws Cathi, Debbi, Jeani, and Scotti, as well as a brother in law Mickey and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.
