Richard S. Ernisse, 81, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died peacefully on April 13, 2026, at home with family by his side.

Born on June 15, 1944, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Milton and Anne Kapcha Ernisse.

Rick devoted much of his life to service within his community. He was a Past Chief and proud twenty-seven year member of the Roosevelt Fire Department in Hyde Park. He was also a Life Member and Past Commodore of the Rogers Point Boat Club, where he formed many lasting friendships and spent countless hours on the Hudson River.

Rick worked for Nichols Fire Apparatus in Hyde Park for many years, retiring in 2012.

On December 26, 1964, in Regina Coeli Church, Hyde Park, he married the former Lillian Farrell. She predeceased him on April 14, 2024, after 59 years of marriage.

Survivors include his daughters, Anne Hommel of Hyde Park and Kelly F. Ernisse of Cohoes; his granddaughter, Korey Hommel of Hyde Park; his grandson, Kody Hommel of Brooklyn; and his great granddaughter, Kelsey Ferris.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Butch Ernisse.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Thursday, April 23rd, at Regina Coeli Church, 2 Harvey Street, Hyde Park.

Burial of his ashes will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
