Richard Nils Carlson, 84, of Hyde Park, passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2023, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, Poughkeepsie.

Born October 30, 1938, in New York City, he was the son of Karl E. and Anna Frost Carlson.

Mr. Carlson was a Licensed Land Surveyor for fifty years in Hopewell Junction. He loved his work; it was his life and passion.

Richard will always be remembered lovingly by his wife of 62 years, Barbara. They enjoyed many beautiful rides to the casino and just spending time together holding hands and lots of hugs.

He loved being a dad and grandfather and spending time with his family. Survivors include his children, Charles Carlson (Barbara Bello), Linda Fitzpatrick (Arthur), and Lisa Ptasienski (Stan); grandchildren, Stephen Carlson (Tanya), Alyssa Finkel, Matthew and Anthony Fitzpatrick, Makayla Ptasienski (Wyatt Kelly), and Mackenzie Ptasienski; and great grandchildren, Abigail and Arthur Fitzpatrick.

Mr. Carlson is also survived by his niece, Kristen Anderson (Stuart); and nephew, Erik Carlson (Jennifer).

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jarl Carlson.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.

A gathering of loved remembrance will be held at a later date.
