Raymond Desire, 80, a resident of Hyde Park for almost twenty-years, died on August 6, 2022, at The Pines at Poughkeepsie Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Born August 21, 1941, in Jacmel, Haiti, he was the son of Reno and Elmise Desire. Formerly of Port Au Prince, he enjoyed traveling to his home country of Haiti, especially in the colder months! Mr. Desire retired from Montefiore Hospital in 2004 before moving to the Hudson Valley full time. He also worked for a time with the Swingline Staple Co. in Queens. Raymond was an avid baseball fan, and he enjoyed watching old western movies and spending time with his family. Survivors include his daughters, Jeanne Desire of Hyde Park, Sandra Sougrain – Desire of the Bronx, Florence Desire of the Bronx, Marie Desire of Poughkeepsie, and Elizabeth Desire of Hyde Park; son, Jean Raymond Desire, of North Carolina; and many other children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Marie Posy of Florida, and Ketsia Valery of Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Desire; and a sister, Renotte Desire. Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 PM, Sunday, August 14th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. Graveside services and burial will be at 1 PM on Monday, August 15th at Maple Grove Cemetery, 127-15 Kew Gardens Rd., Kew Gardens, NY.
