Rae P. Steele , Sr., 72, of Hyde Park, died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at home with his family by his side.

Born, May 12, 1952 in Warwick, NY he was the son of the late John M. Steele and Sylva DeCandido Steele.

After graduating from New York School for the Deaf, in White Plains, NY, Rae went on to work various jobs throughout his life, focusing on his love of electronics and television repair. Rae was a handy man who relished in fixing up electronics.

A private person, he enjoyed spending time working on cars, taking them apart and rebuilding them. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife.

Rae initially met his wife, Dorothy Hildreth, when she was 4 and he was 7 at a sleep away camp for deaf children in Grahamsville, NY, Camp Laughton. They reconnected many years later and on November 11th 1987 in New York City they were married. Mrs. Steele survives at home.

Along with his wife Dorothy, Rae is survived by his two children; Dana- Lynn Steele and fiancé John Flanagan, Rae P. Steele Jr.; one granddaughter whom he adored, Athena Lynn.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by his four siblings.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 6pm on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Sweet's Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Rd., Hyde Park, NY.
