Philline Joy Sangalang
Reynes
Nov 19, 1978 — Mar 15, 2024
Philine Joy Sangalang Reynes, known affectionately as Peejay, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, in Poughkeepsie, NY, after bravely facing health issues. Born on November 19, 1978, in Davao City, Philippines, Peejay's vibrant spirit and compassionate heart touched all who knew her.
Peejay's journey began as the cherished daughter of Divine and Pedrito Sangalang. Her warmth and generosity of spirit were evident from an early age, setting the foundation for the loving relationships she would nurture throughout her life. Her siblings, Pamela Jane Cortez, Patricia Jasmin Stobie, and Pomar John Sangalang, shared an unbreakable bond with her, filled with laughter and support.
The love story between Peejay and her devoted husband, Moquesh Reynes, was one of mutual respect and deep affection. Together, they raised their beloved son, Miguel, and daughter, Madyson, instilling in them the values of love, faith, and courage. Peejay's role as a mother was one of her greatest joys, and she embraced every moment with her children, including welcoming her daughter-in-law, Emilee Reynes, into the family with open arms. The arrival of her granddaughter, Stella Reynes, added a new layer of joy to Peejay's life. She cherished every opportunity to spoil Stella.
Peejay's passion for education led her to earn a Bachelor of Science in management accounting at Ateneo De Davao University. Her intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic were hallmarks of her character and served her well in both her professional and personal endeavors.
Travel and adventure were some of Peejay's greatest pleasures. She explored the world with a sense of wonder and an open heart, making friends and memories in every corner of the globe. Her love for baking was another expression of her creativity and love for life, often sharing her delicious creations with friends and family.
Peejay's legacy extends beyond her immediate family to include her mother-in-law, Thelma Reynes; father-in-law, Vinny Carino; sister-in-law, Lanie Durkin; brothers-in-law, Tim Durkin, Carlo Cortez, Jamie Stobie; nephews, Geoff Sasin, Connor and Tyler Durkin; nieces, Violet Cortez, Giorgiana Stobie; and her Aunt Lachelle Catalan Cabacungan. The Sangalang, Catalan, Rauscher, Machold, and Leary families, her extensive network of relatives, will fondly remember Peejay's faith-filled presence and her unwavering support.
She has now joined her late brother-in-law, Jay Sasin, in heaven.
Those who knew Peejay would describe her as loving, faith-filled, and courageous. Her ability to face life's challenges with grace and her capacity to love unconditionally will remain an inspiration to all. Her infectious laughter, her willingness to lend a helping hand, and her steadfast belief in the goodness of people are the treasures she leaves behind.
Peejay's life was a testament to the beauty of human connection. She believed in the power of family, the strength of friendships, and the importance of community. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to those around her, and her influence will continue to be felt through the countless lives she touched.
As we bid farewell to Peejay, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts. Her spirit will continue to guide us, and her memory will be cherished forever. Peejays' journey on this earth has ended, but her story - one of love, faith, and courage - will continue to be told by all who were privileged to know her.
