Peter Joseph Raughter Sr., 68, of Highland, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023.

Born November 3, 1954 in the Bronx, New York, Peter was the youngest child of the late Michael and Bridget Raughter.

Throughout his life, Peter found solace in music and reading, but above all else he loved his family and friends in the deepest of ways. He held an unwavering desire to provide the best for all those he loved.

Peter is lovingly remembered by his dear brother Michael Raughter and sister Angela Barbaro, and was preceded in death by his late siblings Mary Wissig, John Raughter, Kathleen Giustino, Rose Maxcy, Barbara Weigel, and Ann Rosato. Peter is survived by his six sons: Daniel Raughter, Michael Raughter, Frank Zamparelli, Brian Raughter, Anthony Zamparelli, and Peter Raughter Jr., and will finally be consoled by the warm embrace of his beloved daughter, Mariah Ann Raughter. It is hoped that his spirit will serve as an inspiration to his nine grandchildren: Taylor, Samantha, Brayden, Tony, Sydney, Ethan, Michael, Elias, and Ana.

The family remains eternally grateful for the comfort and support Peter received at the Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care Center following injuries he sustained as a heavy equipment mechanic.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours scheduled from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday August 18, 2023, at Sweet's Funeral Home, located at 4365 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY 12538. A brief service will be held at the same location beginning at 12:00 pm.

Following that, Peter will be laid to rest at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery location at 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie, New York 12601.
