Obituary for Lillian T. Williams

Hyde Park – Lillian T. Williams, 88, a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Renaissance Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Staatsburg.
Born on February 20, 1930 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Dorothy Wicks Richard. She was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park and the former Vassar Hospital School of Nursing.
Lillian was a Psychiatric Nurse at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie for over thirty years until her retirement.
She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of both the Roosevelt Fire Dept. Engine Co. #2, Hyde Park, and the John Livingstone American legion Post #1466, Poughkeepsie.
Ms. Williams loved music and theater. She was a member of the former Hyde Park Theater Company and played many roles in their productions, ranging from actress to seamstress. Lillian also loved to play classical piano and could often be found volunteering her time behind a piano at a local nursing home or senior residence.
Gardening was another one of her hobbies, and she was often referred to as the “flower lady” of Upper Red Hook.
Survivors include her four children, Linda S.(Coy) Lee and husband, Tom, of Ballston Spa, NY, John A. Coy of Myrtle Beach, Dawn M.(Coy) Brown and husband, Alan, of Carver, MA, and Lisa A. (Coy) Lambert of Hyde Park; nine grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Matthew, Daniel, Raeanne, Abigail, Nickolas, Morgan, and Patrick; sister, Marie Schlimmer of Poughkeepsie; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Gustav “Mort” Richard; and sisters, Dorothy “Sis” Biggio, and Joan Seaboldt. She was also predeceased by her former spouse, Aubrey H. Coy in 2005.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 pm, Saturday, September 8th at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be held at 4 pm during the visitation. Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate.
Cremation and burial of her ashes in the family plot at St. Peter’s Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
