Obituary

Nancy L. Hicks, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, known for her loving nature and kind heart, passed away on September 18, 2024, in Albany, NY, due to complications after surgery. Born on November 6, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, NY,

Nancy, a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in 1973, dedicated her professional life to the healthcare sector. She worked in medical billing and scheduling at St. Frances Hospital/ Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.

Nancy's love for her family was unparalleled. She is survived by her devoted spouse, Burtis Hicks Sr.; her son, Burtis Hicks Jr. and his wife Carrie; her daughter, Jennifer Giorgi and her husband Matthew; and her beloved daughter, Amanda Hicks. Nancy's joy was multiplied by her adoring grandchildren, Nicolas, Amelia, & Nolan, and Brianna, & Brayden, who brought immense happiness and purpose to her life. Her passion for life extended to her furry companions, her chocolate lab Gunner, and several kitties they had recued over the years. She also leaves behind her brothers, John and Donnie Corey, and sister Luanne Zadora, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews that she cherished dearly.

Nancy was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Gress Pinkowski and the late Norman Veach. She was also lovingly supported by the father that raised her, the late Donald Corey Sr. and later in life, her stepfather the late Theodore Pinkowski.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Nancy will remember her as a woman who had a profound affection for all living things. She inherited her green thumb from her Mother Betty, and she could often be found nurturing a multitude of plants that she rescued from various places during her weekend errands. Her love extended to animals of all kinds, and she was known to provide a loving home and compassionate care to all creatures that wandered in to her path.

As the sun sets on a life that was as vibrant and nurturing as the gardens she tended, we bid Nancy a heartfelt farewell. Her legacy will continue to bloom in the hearts of her loved ones and in the beauty of the world she so adored. Rest in peace, Nancy, and know that your love will continue to grow in the lives of those you have left behind.
