Millie was born at home on January 9, 1936 and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Millie spent her summers with her parents and her sister Gisela at their country home in Hyde Park, NY where they would escape city life to enjoy the outdoors. She loved "Hyde Park", going for walks, bird watching, gardening, and making use of what they had to build, from nothing, a home that her children, grandchildren and extended family continue to enjoy to this day.
Millie and her family attended Zion German Lutheran Evangelical Church in Brooklyn where her best friend Marianne Jacoby introduced her to her future husband, Edwin A. Jacoby. Millie and Ed were married on September 2, 1956 and spent their honeymoon in "Hyde Park."
Millie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and teacher. She and Ed were married for 65 years where they had three children Emilia Jacoby-Twigg (Deborah) of Lexington MA, Martin Jacoby (Tina) of Lake Hopatcong NJ, and Eric Jacoby (Allison) of Jupiter FL, and 7 grandchildren who were the light of her life, Melissa, Scott, Emma, Sophia, Sara, Noah, and Nathaniel.
Millie and Ed lived in Nanuet NY where they raised their children. She taught high school English at Nanuet High School for 25 years, touching the lives of many students. Passionate travelers, they visited dozens of destinations across the world, finding a new place to call home in Jupiter Florida. Here they created many additional joyful memories with their growing family. She is predeceased by her parents Dr. Otto E. M. Ruhmer and Emmy J.G. (Fensch) Ruhmer and her husband Edwin A, Jacoby and daughter in law Brenda L. Jacoby. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and sister Gisela (Ruhmer) Scott.
