Mildred C. Bendix, 93, of Poughkeepsie, New York, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at The Baptist Home at Brookmeade in Rhinebeck.

Born on April 13, 1933, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of Harold D. Van Leuven and Irene C. Beesmer Van Leuven. Mildred graduated from Arlington High School in 1951.

On August 8, 1953, Mildred married Kenneth Bendix, Sr. at Arlington Reformed Church. They shared many years together until Kenneth's passing on December 28, 1987.

Mildred worked for Dutchess County BOCES as a Teacher's Aide, where she was known for her patience, kindness, and dedication to the students she supported.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Bendix, Jr., his wife Amy, and their son Daniel; her sisters Dorothy Witherwax and Dora Kelley; her niece Wendy Simmons and her husband Dudley; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was predeceased by her parents; her sisters Geraldine Roth, Nettie Farrier, Loretta Jenkins, and Anna Graham; and her brother Harold Van Leuven, Jr.

Cremation already took place at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
