Michael Robert Rock, 84, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at home on March 28, 2023 with his family by his side.

Born in Poughkeepsie on August 14, 1938, Mike was the son of Michael and Gladys Birchall Rock.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963.

A member of the NYS Association of Transportation Engineers, Mr. Rock worked for the New York State Dept. of Transportation for thirty-eight years, retiring in 1999.

Mike was a communicant of St. Peter's Parish in Hyde Park, and a Life Member of the Fairview Fire Company. He was also active with Hyde Park Girls Softball (especially when his daughters played), and was the first president of the Dutchess Debs Softball Club.

On November 30, 1963, in St. Paul's Church, Staatsburg, he married his true love, the former Jean Sullivan. His wife predeceased him in 2008.

Survivors include his three children, Patricia Rock Jeanne Rock and Jennifer Rock and husband, Ian Smith, all residing in Hyde Park; and three grandchildren, Lauren Rock, and Teresa and Michael Wheeler.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his loving daughter, Christine Ault, in 2014.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, April 2nd at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Daniel D'Alliessi at 9:45 am, Monday, April 3rd at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.

Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
