Obituary

Michael W. Montanino, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, left this world peacefully from natural causes at the age of 86. Born on July 12, 1938, in Poughkeepsie, NY, Michael's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Predeceased by his one and only love, his wife of 67 years, Susan, Michael's enduring romance with her was the cornerstone of a life rich in joy and companionship. Though he felt her loss deeply, he continued to embody the love they shared by nurturing his family until his final days. Michael's legacy lives on through his beloved daughter Marilyn Serino and her husband David; his son Alfred, his wife Cynthia; and his daughter-in-law Shirley, widow of his late son Gary. Michael was also predeceased by another son, Michael Jr., both sons' memory remained a cherished part of the family's history.

The light of Michael's life shone brightly upon his grandchildren, Adam and Aimee Serino, Joshua, Brian, Gabriel, and Katie Montanino. Each brought him immeasurable pride and joy, and he in turn left an indelible mark on their hearts. His great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kingsley, and Camilla Serino; Channing, Charley, and Corbett Olker; and Austin Montanino, will grow up hearing legendary stories of their great-grandfather's kindness and strength.

Michael served his country with honor as an Army veteran before embarking on a 37-year career as the owner and operator of Mike's Canteen Truck. Known affectionately as "Meatball Mike," he became a fixture in the local community, providing service always with a smile, to the workers of numerous businesses and construction sites. His work was more than a job; it was a daily opportunity to connect with people and provide a service that extended beyond mere sustenance.

His interests were as vast as the country he adored traveling. Alongside his beloved Susan, Michael explored the United States in their motor home, making memories in every corner of the nation. These adventures were among his most treasured experiences, as they combined his love for discovery with his most favorite person's company.

Friends, family, and acquaintances would unanimously agree that the words thoughtful, handy, and selfless best describe Michael. Whether fixing a broken appliance or lending an ear, he was always there for those in need. His actions spoke volumes of his character, and the positive impact of his deeds will resonate for generations.

Michael W. Montanino's story is one of love, service, and unwavering dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him, and his memory will be affectionately cherished.
