Obituary

Hyde Park - Michael R. Lowe, 71, a lifelong area resident, died on September 29, 2023, at Vassar Bros. Medical Center, Poughkeepsie.

Born June 13, 1952, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Bill and Helen M. Boyer Lowe.

Mike proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Lowe spent his career as a Union Carpenter.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and trap shooting. He was a member of the Crum Elbow Sportsmen's Association and Ti Yogi Bowmen, both in Hyde Park.

In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and rode in several Rolling Thunder Runs in Washington D.C.; the most memorable of which was the one he did with his son, Brendan.

When not helping his son with home renovations, he could often be found in his easy chair or basement moving his trinkets, gadgets and gizmos from one container to another.

On December 28, 1980, in Hyde Park, he married the former Gail A. Borgos. Mrs. Lowe survives at home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jennifer and Brendan, both of Hyde Park.

Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren and teased them mercilessly. His grandchildren are Dominick, Giavanna, Samuel, Natalia, Meaha, Caelyn, Lily, Jackson, Ryan, and Violet.

He is also survived by his siblings, Janet, David, and Roger, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Linda and Margaret.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be from 4 to 7 PM, Friday, October 6th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A celebration of Mike's life will take place at 6 PM during the visitation and military honors will follow.
