Mary A.
Bialosuknia
Feb 15, 1928 — Jan 12, 2026
Mary Alice (Mowell) Bialosuknia of Hyde Park, NY left on her journey to heaven on January 12, 2026. Mary was 97 well lived years old. She was predeceased by her amazing husband Joseph J. Bialosuknia Sr.
Mary came into this world on February 15, 1928, in Poughkeepsie. She was the daughter of Louise and Henry Mowell.
She leaves behind her loving children, Mary Ellen Bialosuknia, Joanne and Greg Tucker, Joe and Joan Bialosuknia, Steven and Theresa Bialosuknia and her grandchildren Sean, Ange' and Tanner, who were the light of her life.
She also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she adored. Additionally, there are countless friends and colleagues that will miss her dearly. Mary was predeceased by her brother, Herk Mowell, her sister and brother-in-law, Anna Mae and Charlie Fitzpatrick.
Mary was a devout parishioner of St. Peter's Church and volunteered at the school when her children were enrolled. Faith was important to her. She brought up her family with love, and modeled compassion for everyone and everything.
Mary always felt blessed with her loving husband and children. Her world truly revolved around them. She skillfully nurtured the unique personalities of her family. She truly was able to make everyone feel special in their own skin. Her brother, Herk, and sister, Anna Mae, were always close to her heart as well.
Mary treasured her fun times with Anna Mae and Charlie, Dutch and Bud. Always up for a party and dancing in the living room. Her house was standing room only.
Mary's smile would light up a room. Her compassion for others and empathetic nature provided comfort and love to everyone she encountered. As the saying goes, "to know her was to love her". As Ellen, our cousin, put it "Believe me, if anyone has a one-way ticket to heaven, she has."
But....Mary never had to raise her voice if she was not happy with your behavior. She had a look that would stop you in your tracks no matter who you were. She might have been small in stature, but you bet you would step in line if you got that look!
After Joe died in 1979, Mary went to work. She started at Dutchess Community College in the cafeteria with Anna Mae and quickly made friends with the coworkers. Mary also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She also had a 30-year stint at the Gift Shop in St. Francis Hospital where patients with weekly appointments would make sure to stop and see her. See, Mary was medicine for the soul, and warmed hearts for sure.
Mary's family would like to thank the ENTIRE staff of the Medows at Brookmeade where she spent the last two and a half years of her life. The love and attention she received there is indescribable. EVERYONE knew Mary there, although maybe as Smiley, Tootsie or Lil Mary. There are several special individuals there (you know who you are) that showed Mary extraordinary love, compassion and friendship. She was truly family in their eyes and hearts and for that we are eternally grateful.
Mary didn't have much money and whatever extra she had she would give to anyone in need. Mary was wealthy in so many more important ways and she taught us how to live life focusing on the things money can't buy.....Love, compassion, seeing the good in others, treasuring the simple things in life, do what you can....it's ok to be silly, wacky, burst out in song and smile at every passing person. All the things that would make this world a better place. With that in mind, to truly honor Mary, in lieu of flowers, please share kindness every day, in every way you can. She will be smiling down on you when you do.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
