Obituary

Mary Ann was born on May 1, 1940, in Poughkeepsie, NY. She passed away peacefully while in the wonderful care of the Lutheran Care Center on November 23, 2021. She had several years of dealing with Dementia and numerous physicality issues, but ultimately… she left this world of a broken heart and went to be with her husband, Floyd W. Bolde, who passed earlier this same year on April 24, 2021.  She was a tiny thing that met Floyd as a teenager, she worked at Woolworth's as a "soda jerk," as she would tell the story. Once she and Floyd got married on September 1, 1957, she was a "stay-at-home mom" until the youngest started high school. She worked for a time at Shop-Rite in Poughkeepsie, and then became a bus monitor on the special needs bus for the Arlington Central School District. This was such an important job to her. She truly loved the kids as her own. While there at the school district, she worked hard and achieved the goal of getting union representation for the bus monitors. She was very proud of that.  In the summer of 1982, Mary Ann and Floyd took a dream trip across the country on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Within those eight weeks of travel, she sat on the back of that motorcycle and took sixty rolls of 35mm pictures. And so came the nickname of Shutterbug. Her love of pictures was abundant.  Mary Ann and her husband, Floyd, were involved in several organizations:  The Random Riders and Gold Wing Road Riders Associations, and the most recent, the longest and the truly loved, The Thunder Road Cruisers Car Club, of which they were founding members. Members were not just members to her; they were an extension of the family.  In addition to her children, she loved her grandson, Justin. For many years, Mary Ann and Floyd would take him on adventures of travel, and oh the stories on the return.   In the end, she decided that after 63 years of marriage, two kids, a grandson, two great-grandchildren and the passing of her loving and caring husband, she wanted to go be with him.   She is predeceased by her mother, Marion Broas Scheltmeyer Davis and brother, Kenneth Davis. Mary Ann is survived by her two children; daughter, Tammy Chenevert and husband, Scott, of Hyde Park, son, Michael Bolde, and husband, Richard Wiesenthal, of Afton, NY; grandson, Justin Chenevert, and wife, Victoria, of Hyde Park; and their two glorious children, Mary Ann's great-grandchildren, Aurora and Ryder, all of Hyde Park; brothers, Frederick Robert (Bobbie) Scheltmeyer and Everett Ronald (Ronnie) Scheltmeyer, both of Poughkeepsie; sisters, Nancy Hendrix of Poughkeepsie, Janet Davis of Florida, and Renee Davis of Missouri; loving sister-in-law, Sandra Fitzpatrick, whom she lovingly called "Sissy"; along with many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her and Floyd's adopted daughters, Holly Pearce-Rosado, Nancy Aquaro and Pam Dembicki.   A huge thank you to all who helped care for her both at home and at the Lutheran Care Center. The love, care and friendship were never missed and will always be appreciated.   In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial calling hours will be from 5 to 8 PM, Monday, November 29th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.   Graveside services and burial of her ashes will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, November 30th in the family plot at Union Cemetery, Rte. 9G, Hyde Park.   Memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Care Center, 965 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 ( www.lutherancarecenter.org ), or the Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 80 Washington Street, Suite 204, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
