Obituary

Marie Movall, 68, passed peacefully Tuesday, July 13, 2021 surrounded by her family at Northern Dutchess Hospital.  Marie was born Marie Paula Ironside, daughter to the late Albert and Marie (Jancovic) Ironside. She was youngest of six sisters and is pre-deceased by her sisters, Ellen (Spencer) and Alberta (Constable). She is survived by her sisters, Margaret (Silvernail), Louise (Kowalski), and Therese (Bomba). Her sisters were her best friends and she was always close with them throughout her life. Marie attended Our Lady of Lourdes and Dutchess Community College, and, as an innate care-giver, had a career as a Registered Nurse. Marie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gerald 'Jerry' Movall. Together, they made a life in Rhinebeck, and later in Hyde Park, with their two children, Jeffrey and Rebecca. In her younger years, Marie spent much of her free time with her family on their boat on the Hudson and points further. She was a member of the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club, and through boating she created a group of life-long friends. Later in life, Marie and Jerry switched from the boat to a motorhome for their adventures together. They eventually found a permanent location for their second home in Juno Beach, Florida. As a member of the Juno Ocean Walk RV Resort Community, Marie made many new friends who share her love of warm weather, the ocean, and the sun. Marie spent many years volunteering at the Hyde Park Free Library. She organized displays and created projects for children to do.  She loved story-telling and children, particularly her four grandchildren: Matthew, Abraham, Hazel and Everleigh. For Marie, being a grand-mother was great source of pride and happiness. As a 'shop local' advocate, Marie was always supporting area businesses. She would buy gifts for everyone, making friends feel like family. Her thoughtfulness for others was defining: Marie was always sending cards and making baskets for anyone who was celebrating or needed their spirits lifted. Marie loved all animals and had many beloved pets through the years.  In addition to her husband and grandchildren, Marie is survived by her daughter, Rebecca, and her wife, Joy, of Stanfordville and her son, Jeffrey, and his wife, Heather, of Kingston. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 PM, Friday, July 16th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, Saturday, July 17th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
