Marianne B. Tamney, 93, a lifelong area resident, died on Friday, January 14, 2022, with her family by her side. Born, June 2, 1928, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Gallus Wermuth and Mary Smith Wermuth. On September 4th, 1949, She married Leroy Tamney, Mr. Tamney predeceased her in 1984. Marianne enjoyed spending time with her family, and her group of friends (The Crum Elbow Club) going out many places to eat and socialize, she was also a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, Poughkeepsie. When not out spending time with family and friends she could often be found on the other end of the phone as a customer relations specialist for Dutchess Bank for many years before her retirement. She is survived by her son Robert Tamney and wife Christine; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Samantha, Jason, and Kyleen; a daughter in law, Mary Tamney, and a sister Elma Mackey of Valatie, NY. Along with her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Joseph Tamney, two brothers Thomas Wermuth, and Robert Wermuth. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place, burial of her cremains will be private and at the convenience of the family.
