She attended UNH and studied business classes in Groton, CT. In 1966, she met her future husband at her brother's wedding, as the two men went to the University of Notre Dame together, and married him in 1967. The couple took up residence in NY where Fred worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie, living in Hyde Park since 1970.

Marcia was a stay at home mother for the early part of her children's lives. Later, she worked part time as a nursery school assistant and then part time at IBM, which became full time as an administrative assistant in both the Poughkeepsie and Kingston locations. She enjoyed tennis, bridge and traveling. After retiring in 1993, she traveled extensively across the North American continent, visiting all 50 states, mostly by RV. She enjoyed taking care of her family and watching her grandchildren grow up. She was the rock of the family and will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her husband, Fred, and two children, Pam Rochon (Tony) of Ashburn, VA, and Marc Flusche (Patricia) of Ridgewood, NJ, and 7 grandchildren Catie Rochon, Betsy Rochon, Chris Rochon, Davis Flusche, Julianne Flusche, Gwendolyn Flusche, and Marcus Flusche. Also surviving are siblings, Dick Highter of Fort Pierce, FL, Bill Highter (Cheryl) of Manhattan, KS and The Villages, FL and Peggy Butler (Mike) of Yuma, AZ, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters Shirley Mitchell and Ginger Highter and brother Donald Highter.
