Obituary

Linda L. Briggs, who graced this world with her presence on June 25, 1941, in Poughkeepsie, NY, has embarked on her next great adventure, leaving behind a trail of love, joy, and beautiful memories after passing away peacefully on August 3, 2024, in the Town of Hyde Park.

Linda's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of love, friendship, and selfless service. She shared a remarkable journey with her beloved husband, Donald E. Briggs, Sr., with whom she built a life rich in laughter and mutual respect. Their partnership was a beacon of love and dedication, inspiring all who knew them. Linda's legacy is also cherished by her devoted children, Donna J. Chapman and Donald E. Briggs, Jr., who inherited her warm spirit and generous heart. Through her brother and sister-in-law, Donald G. and Grace Rose, and sister-in-law, Cheryl Rose, Linda's familial bonds were strengthened, and these relationships were dear to her.

Linda's essence will forever be reflected in the lives of her three grandchildren, McKenzie, Travis, and Michaela, who were the apple of her eye. Her life-long best friend of over 70 years, Patricia Athanas , stood by her through thick and thin, sharing countless moments of joy and solace. Linda's nieces and nephews, too, will carry forward the light she instilled in each of them.

An avid cross-stitcher, Linda's artistry was a gift to all. Each stitch was a testament to her patience and passion, creating heirlooms that will be treasured for generations. Her involvement with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club revealed her adventurous spirit and camaraderie, while her love of Volunteering at the Kids Hooked on Fishing Day at Morgan Lake showcased her commitment to nurturing the next generation's appreciation for nature and recreation.

Linda's life was a reflection of her greatest joys: her family and her home. It was here that she cultivated an environment of warmth and welcome, where friends became family and laughter was the universal language. Those fortunate enough to have known her experienced full measure of her loving, friendly, and generous nature.

Even as we mourn her passing, Linda's spirit urges us to embrace life with the same fervor and compassion she did. Let us honor her memory by living fully, loving deeply, and laughing heartily. In doing so, we keep her legacy alive—a legacy that encourages us to be the best versions of ourselves, to give generously of our time and talents, and to cherish the simple moments that, in the end, become our most precious memories.

Linda may have been predeceased by her parents and her brother, Kenneth Rose, but the love and lessons they shared remain a guiding force. Her story does not end here; it continues in every life she touched, every smile she prompted, and every heart she warmed.

In a world that often races by, Linda L. Briggs was a reminder of the power of stillness, the beauty of a kind gesture, and the enduring strength of love. Today, let us not say goodbye, but rather, "See you," as we carry forward the light she has left with us. Linda's journey on earth was a masterclass in generosity of spirit and joy in living. As we remember her, let us be inspired to weave our own lives with the same vibrant colors she used to paint her days. Linda, your unforgettable spirit will forever be in our memories.
