On July 25, 2021, Lillian Crefeld died at the Renaissance Rehab & Nursing Care Center in Staatsburg, NY. She was 91 years old.Lillian grew up on a farm in Lincoln Park, NJ where she learned her love and care of animals and gardening. As an adult, she raised German Shepherd Dogs for show.She moved to Florida for a number of years and then returned to the northeast to live at the Mill at Saugerties, NY, where she became known as "Garden Lilli", as she voluntarily tended the gardens in the residents'large outdoor sitting area. Residents and friends alike brought her flowers to plant in the garden.Lillian was an accomplished artist in watercolor and had a love of music and played the guitar and sang and also had a great love of poetry and often wrote her own verse. She could also quote many well-known poets:  "Hope is the thing with feathersThat perches in the soulAnd sings the tune without the words And never stops at all."-Emily DickinsonHer last place of work was as a cashier at Walmart in Ulster, NY.Lillian Is survived by two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. A special service was held on August 4, 2021 in Memorial. No further services are planned at this time.Lillian's family respectfully requests memorial donations to your local animal shelter.
