Town of Clinton

Layne M. Mowris,70, of the Town of Clinton, Dutchess County, NY, died on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at home.

Born on November 6, 1952, in Sharon, CT, he was the son of late Eugene and the late Katherine Winchell Mowris.

Layne worked for Lloyd Sellers Trucking, Gardiner, NY, as a truck driver.

As a child, Layne raced sled dogs with his father. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing on Lake Champlain. Always busy, he would often be found tinkering around the house.

He married Sue Mc Kinney on September 12, 1981.  Sue survives at home. In addition to Sue, he is survived by his son, Earl J. Mowris, Rhinebeck, NY, his sister, Genie Oles, Hyde Park, NY, brother, Wesley Mowris, Milan, NY, the light of his life, his grandson, Egon Mowris, Peekskill, NY, nieces & nephews, and great nieces & great nephews and cousins.

He is also survived by Mr. Bill Mowris. For those that don't know Mr. Bill, he is Layne's companion (the family cat).

In addition to his parents, Layne was predeceased by his brother, Leo Mowris.

There will be a gathering for Layne's service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Please call the family for more details.

The family is honoring Layne's request to be cremated and respectfully requests memorial donations to be made to a charity of your choice.
