Kathleen M. Murphy, 87, of Hyde Park, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side.

Born on May 25, 1937, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Kennedy and Mary Gannon.

She was a graduate of Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn.

Kathleen was known as the matriarch of the family; she was a phenomenal care taker and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

She worked for Calvary Hospital for over 20 years before her retirement in 1998.

Survivors include her son, Richard, daughter in law Miriam Murphy; her grandkids, Kerry Burke, Richard Burke, and Kathleen Murphy; her brother Patrick Kennedy; and her sister-in-law, Julie Kennedy.

Kathleen was also affectionately known as "Aunt Kakie" to several beloved nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard V. Murphy, and her daughter,  Wendy Ann Rocke.

Calling hours will be held from 4PM-7PM on Friday, November 1, at Sweet's Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY.

A Mass of Chirstian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Regina Coeli Church , 2 Harvey Street, Hyde Park, NY.

Following Kathleen's wishes, cremation will take place after the Funeral Mass.

Burial of her cremains will be at St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY at a later date.

Kathleen was always a generous person, in keeping with her wishes the family would like donations made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
