Julia B.
Pero
Aug 13, 1931 — Jun 26, 2023
Julia B. Pero; 91, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Hudson Valley Rehab. and Extended Care Center in Highland, N.Y.
Born on August 13, 1931, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Cosimo Buffone and Mary Amodeo Buffone.
A graduate of Arlington High School in 1950, Julia enjoyed watching a baseball game, the news, and listening to the radio.
Julia was an avid reader of anything she could get her hands on. She enjoyed watching Bette Davis movies, soap operas, and The Wizard of Oz, usually with a piece of cheesecake.
She loved being outside in nature and enjoyed walking in the warm sunshine. She also loved being with her beloved cats and dogs.
Julia's greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and celebrating many special occasions with them. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her warm laughter, the twinkle in her eyes, and her perseverance through times of trouble.
Julia is survived by her children; Lynne Rosenquist, of Highland, Eddie Pero, of Hyde Park, and Susan Skelly, and husband Chuck, of Underhill, Vermont. She is also survived by her grandchildren - Susan, Richard, Michael, Paul, Juliana, and Terri-Ann, along with several great grandchildren.
Julia is also survived by her many friends and caregivers at the HVRECC - who became like a second family to her during her time spent there. We would like to express our deep appreciation and unending gratitude to all of those who took the time to lovingly care for our mom, to share kind words and laughter with her, and for all the little extras that we will never even know about.
Along with her parents, Julia was also predeceased by her two sons Rich Pero and Terry Pero, as well as her husband Walter Pero.
She was also predeceased by her siblings, Angelina, Louise, Frank, Vinnie, Daminao, Louis, Angelo, and George.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hudson Valley Rehab Nursing Center, especially Dail, Jackie, and Onda.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on July 12th at the Union Cemetery of Hyde Park, 1076 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538
Julia's family respectfully requests memorial donations to Hudson Valley Rehab and Extended Care Center, 260 Vineyard Ave. Highland, NY 12528.
