Judith Ann (known as Judy) Rielle, 86, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 peacefully at home with her loving daughter and dear friends by her side. She was the loving wife and soul mate of Donald Rielle for 57 years, devoted mother of Christine Ferland (Matt) and Lisa Rielle along with her four-legged daughter Logan. Beloved grandmother to Christopher Rielle (Brittany), Lacey Baker (Derek) and Brooklyn Montgomery (John). She was a loving great grandmother to Cason William and Leighton Mae and McKenna Marie.
Judy was born on November 22, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Geraldine Lacey and William Lacey. She was a loving sister to Jeanne Schoewe (deceased), Michael Lacey (deceased) and Geri Bryan (Danny). Judy was a devoted aunt to Jason Bryan (Kelly), Elizabeth Bryan, Debby Allen, Cindy Mitchell McGarvey, Todd Lacey and Michael Patrick Lacey. She was a cherished friend to Laurie Cohn, Sharon Russitano, and Eileen Linn.
Before starting her career in Ohio, Judy and Don took in foster children for Catholic Charities in Lancaster Ohio. Soon after she became a speech therapist for those with cerebral palsy. Years later after getting her masters degree in speech-language pathology, she worked at Saint Francis Hospital for many years. She helped develop a program for developmentally delayed adults at the ARC of NY for those with communication needs. She gave back to the community coordinating with her husband the CCD program at St. Peters Parish and Lakeview Arms providing meals and entertainment to residents. Judy was a friend of Bill's for 46 years.
Judy was a defender of those who marched to a different drummer and believed a quote from NAMI to be true, "broken crayons still have color". Judy's faith was her anchor, the Catholic Mass and Eucharist were her solace. She was a survivor, knew how to endure and persevere throughout her life and taught her loved ones the value of acceptance and forgiveness. She loved the Yankees, stray dogs, and lots of ice.
The family wishes to thank Michelle and Claudine of My Angels Homecare for their devoted care to Judy over the recent past.
