Joseph Edward Buckley Jr., 78, of Myrtle Beach , South Carolina and formerly of Poughkeepsie, died on December 7, 2023, at home with his family by his side.

Born June 22, 1945, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Joseph Edward Buckley and Eileen Bush Buckley.

Joe was a 1963 graduate of Arlington High School, where he played football, basketball and rowed crew. He went on to graduate from Marist College with a business degree and he took postgraduate classes at Pace University. Joe was also a member of the Marist Crew Team.

Mr. Buckley worked as a CPA for more than 40 years until his retirement in 2023.

He loved boating and waterskiing, and most especially loved teaching his grandsons to waterski at ages 5 and 7.

On February 19, 1966, in Poughkeepsie, he married the former Lorie Sadowski. Mrs. Buckley survives at home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Todd Michael Buckley, of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Cheryl Lyn Kimbark and husband, Mark, of Derry, NH; grandchildren, Devin Aileen Kimbark, Brodan William Kimbark, and Nolan Todd Kimbark, all of Derry, NH; and great granddaughter, Phoenix Katherine, of Derry, NH.

He is also survived by his niece, Sharon Burns; nephews, Tom, John, and Rick Beers.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lois Beers.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 PM, Thursday, December 14th, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Daniel D'Alliessi at 9:45 AM, Friday, December 15th at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
