Dr. Jose Braga, 86, a longtime area resident passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Lutheran Care Center.

Born in Burgos, Pangasinan Philippines, he was the son of the late Juan Braga and Peregrina Nacional Braga. In 1961, he earned his medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas. Dr. Braga spent most of his career at the Vassar Brothers Hospital Emergency Room taking pride in his work, saving lives and healing those who needed his care.

Dr. Braga is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dale. Together they have three daughters, Elizabeth; Jennifer, and husband Peter; and Kristin and husband Ronald; one grandchild, Gemma.

He is also survived by two sisters and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by one sister.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on 1 South Unit at Lutheran Care Center for their care and compassion during his time there.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
