John T. Wheeler, 98, died on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Hudson Valley Rehab and Nursing Care Center in Highland.

Born, February 4, 1926 in Wassaic, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence M. Wheeler and Helene Reddington Wheeler.

John proudly served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946.

He worked for Smith Distribution in Utica as a Sales Representative for many years before his retirement.

On February 4th,1948 in St. Joseph's Church, he married the Constance Dubinski Wheeler. Mrs. Wheeler predeceased him on February 4th,2022.

John was known to be a quiet and humble man who enjoyed being out and about when he could and always made sure to look his best.

John was predeceased by his son Thomas Wheeler in 1973.

He is survived by his close friend and caregiver Caren Duprey.

In keeping with his wishes, a graveside service will take place at 10am on Tuesday April 2nd at St. Peter's Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Tpke., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
