John Michael Van Buren,79, of Hudson Florida, died on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Hyde Park, New York.

Born May 12, 1944, in Bromwich, England, he was the son of the late John W. Van Buren and Mary Davies Van Buren.

John proudly served in the United States Navy being deployed to Vietnam two times from 1962-1966.

He worked for IBM as a Software Engineer for many years before his retirement. John was instrumental in the coding project for the first smartboards used in classrooms, and the concept of automated classrooms which he taught all over the country, often time bringing his family along too.

After an unexpected meeting and a phone number exchange, John married the love of his life Paulette Kujda on January 20, 1966. His wife of 57 years, Mrs. Van Buren, survives at home in Florida.

Along with his wife he is survived by his three children, Carissa "Chrissy", Lori Van Buren, and Jonathan Van Buren.

He is also survived by his four grandsons Gaven Ethan Aiden and Jonathan

In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place.

Internment of his cremains will take place at Bushnell National Cemetery, Florida, at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
