John Howard Thomas Stalker, affectionately called Stalker by many, passed away on July 5, 2023. John was born to Richard C. and Jeanne (Marlette) Stalker on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1981 and soon learned that he had interrupted his dad's hunting that year. John captured his father's passion for hunting and continued a lifetime love of hunting on the Perotti family farm in Millerton, which he has passed on to his son.

John grew up in Stanfordville, graduating from Stissing Mountain High School in Pine Plains in 2000. He attended Clinton Community College before joining the apprentice program with Local 21, Plumbers and Steamfitters, where he continued to be a welder until his death. He was an active member serving in different positions as soon as he finished apprentice school. John currently was President of the Local. He had been nominated to run for Business Agent but passed before the election.

John fostered his love of sports with his children, Sophie and Thomas; particularly his love of ice hockey and baseball, where he was a coach for Millbrook Ice Hockey Association and assisted with Taconic Little League. Sophie always wished that John could coach her in basketball or lacrosse but he told her he didn't know enough about them to be able to do that. He was so proud of all of Sophie and Thomas' accomplishments in school and sports.

John was predeceased by his father Richard, in 2021; grandparents; aunt, Elizabeth Stalker; and uncle, Thomas Stalker. John is survived by the loves of his life, Sophie Lee and Thomas Everett, along with their mother, Linda Henning and the entire Henning family. He is also survived by his mother, Jeanne; brother, Michael (Kristin); niece, Francesca; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends.

Relatives and friends may call from 1pm to 4 pm on Sunday, July9, 2023 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park, NY 12538.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jeanne Stalker, 143 Charwill Drive, Clinton Corners, NY 12514, to be placed in custodial accounts for Sophie and Thomas. The family thanks everyone for all the love and support.

Cremation will take place at Poughkeepsie rural cemetery on Monday, July10, 2023.  Interment will take place at the family's convenience at a later date.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.sweetsfuneralhome.com.
