Joan Ciarfella, 84, a longtime area resident, died peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. Born April 14, 1937, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Herbert and Georgiana Husband Cobleigh. In her younger years, she enjoyed doing ceramics and loved riding horses.  She was an accomplished rodeo barrel racer. Mrs. Ciarfella was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. A homemaker, family was very important to Joan. Her husband, James  'Pinky' Ciarfella, predeceased her in 2003. Survivors include her two daughters, Cindy Critchley and husband, Michael, of Clinton Corners, and Lena Ciarfella of Saugerties; son, Anthony Ciarfella and wife, Kim, of Watertown; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and son-in-law, Raymond Wagner of Wappingers Falls. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Kim Ciarfella in 2004; granddaughter, Jenny Critchley in 2005; and stepsister, Fay Robinson in 2014. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Her ashes have been buried in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
