Jeanne Ann
Albertson
Apr 2, 1943 — Apr 9, 2025
Jeanne Ann Albertson, 82, longtime resident of Hyde Park, passed away on April 9, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 2, 1943, in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Pauline (Cheney) Staring.
Jeanne moved to Staatsburg with her family, and she graduated as Valedictorian of her class from the former Staatsburg Union Free School in 1961.
On August 7, 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, Peter A. Albertson at St. Paul's church in Staatsburg.
Jeanne started her career at Motorola in Poughkeepsie. She left the workforce to raise her children and be a homemaker. After her children were grown, she rejoined the workforce as a secretary for the Vice Principal at F. D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park until her retirement. While with the school district, she also served as president of the CSEA Union. It was at the high school where she touched many students' lives, like a second mother, often providing tough love and good advice. Many former students remembered her over the years, often sparking-up conversations and catching up when running into her.
A founding member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Hyde Park Knights of Columbus, she could often be found volunteering at the K of C fish fries and Italian nights. Jeanne was a staple at these events for so long she evolved from taking orders over the phone to submitting take-out orders via an iPad. She enjoyed working at these events and looked forward to serving her community alongside her husband.
A devout and faithful catholic, Jeanne regularly attended mass, even on vacation! Her and her family's favorite vacation destination was Cape Cod where they went to the same B&B on the Nantucket Sound every year since their honeymoon.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Peter, her two children; Paula Jeanne Albertson and wife, Kate Monahan, of Apex, North Carolina, and Mark Edward Albertson and wife, Tara, of Staatsburg; granddaughters, Brittany Albertson and Shaun Papesca; as well as many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her brother, David Staring, and his wife, Dorothy Dreyer.
Family was especially important to Jeanne. She was very close to her in-laws, the Albertson family, and became one of the 'Albertson sisters". She cherished her family, and the special relationships she had with them all.
