The life of Jason Antonelli ended peacefully at the age of 51 on July 6, 2022, in Newburgh, NY, when an unexpected cardiac event took him suddenly from his cherished family and friends.
Jason's youth and formative years were spent in Hyde Park, where, until he changed his name in later life, he was known as Jason Reichgut. He graduated from Roosevelt High School where, because of his ability to be an engaging team player, he rowed as a member of the varsity crew and also was Co-Captain of the varsity soccer team Jason loved all sports, but no matter where he lived, he remained a devoted and avid Yankee fan. As a child he loved music and theater, and in high school he landed a leading role in West Side Story.
Jason went on to graduate from SUNY Oneonta as a Communications major. With a personality that could light up a room and an uncanny ability to carry on a conversation with anyone, Jason was a natural in the hospitality industry. He moved to Arizona and then to California pursuing a career in organizing and staging events at various venues including Universal Studios, The Getty Center, and celebrations after the Oscar awards. Jason recently moved to the entertainment and hospitality capital of the country, Las Vegas, to continue his career, but with the devastating effect of the pandemic on this industry generally and on Las Vegas in particular, Jason returned home to Hyde Park to consider his next course in life.
Jason is survived by his mother, Carole Wolf, of Hyde Park, NY, by his brother, Spencer Reichgut and his life partner, Joli Tompkins, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and by his sister, Angelique Levi, and her husband, Andrew, of Fairfield, CT; as well as by loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Detlef Wolf, by his uncle, Dennis Ladoff, and by his beloved maternal grandparents, Rhoda and Max Ladoff.
Jason was a wonderful and loving son, brother and a devoted grandson who will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral arrangements were private and at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life is planned and will be held in the near future.
