Janet L.
Baker
Dec 20, 1943 — Aug 21, 2026
Janet L. Baker, 82, of Rhinebeck, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, New York.
Born on December 20, 1943, in Queens, New York, Janet was the daughter of Blair Delorey and Ruth Davidson Delorey.
Janet dedicated her life to caring for and helping others. She attended Ottawa University, where she earned a master's degree in religious education. She later worked as a Social Worker with the Department of Social Services and as a Daycare Center Teacher at Community Daycare Center, where she served for many years with compassion, patience, and love.
On August 19, 1972, in Saginaw, Michigan, Janet married the love of her life, Edward Baker. Together, they shared 54 years of marriage, celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary just two days before her passing. Their life together was filled with love, family, faith, and countless cherished memories.
Janet was a deeply loving and kind person who always saw the good in others. She had a remarkable ability to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and always found something positive to say about the people around her. Her kindness was genuine and unconditional, and she had a way of making others feel loved, accepted, and cared for. She brought warmth and compassion to everything she did and to everyone she met.
Family was the greatest joy of Janet's life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was especially blessed to live long enough to know and love her three amazing great-granddaughters, RaeLynn, Nova, and Soul, who brought her tremendous joy and pride.
In addition to her loving husband, Edward Baker, Janet is survived by her daughters, Heather Quinn and Meredith Baker; her brother, Blair Delorey, Jr.; her grandchildren, Ashley Quinn and Justin Quinn; and her great-granddaughters, RaeLynn Stallworth, Nova Stallworth, and Soul Stallworth.
In addition to her parents, Blair and Ruth Delorey, Janet was predeceased by her beloved son, Todd Baker.
Janet will be remembered most of all for the extraordinary love she gave her family, her unwavering kindness, her strong faith, and her ability to always see the best in others. She leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She was deeply loved and will be missed, more than words can express.
