Obituary

Henry Schroeder, affectionately known as "Hank" or "Pops" to all who knew him, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the age of 91. Henry was born on December 1, 1932, in Hudson, NY, the son of Martin Henry Schroeder and Anna Burfeind Schroeder, both of whom preceded him in death.

Henry served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1955. Upon his return from service, Henry embarked on a career as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, working diligently for IUOE -137 Operating Engineers for many years until his well-deserved retirement. He could fix anything.

On July 4, 1957, Henry married the love of his life, Jacquline Fogarty, with whom he shared 63 cherished years until her passing on September 1, 2020.

Henry's interests were diverse and reflected his zeal for life. He found joy in reading, bowling, and immersing himself in the great outdoors through activities like fishing, snowmobiling, and camping, often with his beloved family by his side. He loved driving cross country and exploring the USA, especially the mountain West and Alaska with Jackie. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, relishing every moment spent with them. Henry also dedicated his time to serving his community, volunteering for the LaGrange Fire District St.2, embodying his spirit of selflessness and commitment to others.

He is survived by his sister Carolyn Baker of Calf, his sons, Rick (Suzanne) and David (Christy); as well as his four grandchildren: Tyler and fiancé Jenna, Siera and fiancé Derek, Christian and partner Hannah, Brooke and partner Danny.

Along with his wife he was predeceased by his son John Schroeder, brothers Jack and Marty Schroeder.

The family would also like to thank his caregivers Mary and Cathy for their dedicated help and all of the amazing Hospice Staff.
