Obituary

Red Hook – Helen D. Clinton, 79, a resident of Red Hook, passed quietly on Sunday morning, November 21, 2021.

Born in Walden, NY to Everett and Jessica Henry Charles, (both deceased) on August 11, 1942. She graduated Valley Central High School in Walden, attended Krissler Business Academy, and Dutchess Community College. She retired from Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie and worked part time for Jules E Shayo, LPA, in Poughkeepsie for 20 years.

Apart from her career as a bookkeeper, Helen also was a volunteer EMT for the Staatsburg Rescue Squad and was an avid member of The Moose Lodge in Hyde Park, and the VFW Post in Poughkeepsie.

She was predeceased by her Husband, Henry J. Clinton Sr, in 1984 and her three siblings, Everett Charles Jr, Ida May Judson, and Jesse Charles.

Helen valued her family more than life itself. She was a kind and generous soul, with a heart of gold. Everyone looked up to her for strength, guidance, love, and friendship. She made friends wherever she went. If you knew her, you loved her. It was that simple. Her absence will leave a giant void in all of us.

She is survived by the loves of her life, her children, Melissa Rhodes Carlock (Robert) of Greensboro, NC, Erin M. Garcia (Luis) of Red Hook, Karen L DeClair (Steven) of Poughkeepsie, and Henry J. Clinton Jr, (Sirenia) of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Tyler J. Rhodes of Greensboro, NC, Eva M. Garcia, Ema M. Garcia, and Elia M. Garcia, all of Red Hook, Michelle L. Cummings of Poughkeepsie, and Henry J. Clinton III, and Stefanie P Clinton, both of Asheboro, NC; and great-grandchildren, Freya A. Rhodes of Greensboro, NC, and Kari, Kristopher, Kason, and Kareem Jr., all of Poughkeepsie.

Helen has requested no visiting hours. The burial is to be private and will be set at the convenience of her children.

In lieu of flowers, please make a local food bank donation in her honor, for Thanksgiving. She was always donating and helping the less fortunate.

Her written words were: Remember my love and the memories we shared together.
